About Our Organization

Our Vision: Freedom to access accurate information to do good.

Our Mission: Help improve policy and decision-making through research, analysis, and training.

Founded in 2020, Pasewan is an independent, non-profit, and non-partisan organisation. We adopt an untiring aim to pivot and address the vital societal issues in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

Our dedicated Pasewan team is consistently engaged, dynamic, and local. We employ field staff with personal experience and perspectives on the ground of the region – getting the people’s voices heard.

We fight disinformation and fake news by closely monitoring the information ecosystem of the region. We know that insightful research and meaningful data will inspire policymakers, other political leaders, and community activists to enact positive societal change.

We know that strengthening Kurdistan through reinforcing public institutions, supporting the democratic process, and promoting responsible citizenship will bring a better future. We do this by focusing on existing leaders in government and the new generation of Iraqis. We know that there is hope and optimism for a brighter future.
The values to back us up in, both trying and optimistic times, are safety, integrity, accountability, teamwork, respect, and community.

There is power in the collective capacity for action and change – and Pasewan seeks to empower all people to be part of that collective.
We know that it takes a community, together, to act.

Lastly, we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer that welcomes staff regardless of gender, age, race, religion, political affiliation, or sexual orientation.

Our Values

We value all voices and believe that every person has something to contribute to the conversation. Beyond research, Pasewan fights disinformation and fake news by monitoring the information ecosystem in the Kurdistan Region.

Pasewan strives to produce unbiased research that offers valuable insights and analyses that address the complex problems facing Iraq. Though there is a wide variety of issues to address, Pasewan focuses on those that are most pressing and require attention from politicians and policymakers. By empowering them with information, they can make informed decisions on behalf of the public.

As Pasewan does this important work, the following values will be upheld: safety, integrity, accountability, teamwork, respect, and community. In particular, Pasewan will prioritise communication and consensus in every action taken by the organisation. There is power in the collective capacity for action and change and Pasewan seeks to empower all people to be part of that collective.

How Pasewan goes about this is also important. There is a strong commitment to horizontal integration, organic growth, and taking advantage of the collective capacity to develop public policy. Pasewan knows that it takes a community, together, to take action. Thank you for partnering with Pasewan and supporting this mission to create positive change in Iraq.

We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer that welcomes staff regardless of gender, age, race, religion, political affiliation, or sexual orientation.
